Pacific Health Ministry chaplains are determined to help you get through this difficult time. Our weekly “Mindfulness Mondays” series includes tips and activities to encourage fun, stress-relieving activities from the comfort of your own home.
For many of us, social distancing means staying at home for extended periods of time. Without the need to commute to and from work or to make numerous trips to the store, you’re likely finding that you have much more time during the day than you did before.
This week, we encourage you to spend some of that newfound time reading a book, particularly a book that discusses mental health and overall wellness. Reading allows for a peace and quiet not usually found in our busy lives. Books also enable you to learn about new fields, gain new perspectives, and increase your knowledge about yourself and the world around you.
Reading material on mental health benefits both you and the people around you. Mental health is a topic that’s largely ignored in schools and the workplace, and reading books on mental health awareness and wellness can help you better understand the causes of stress, teach you to recognize stress in yourself, and learn effective methods of overcoming it.
