MISSION
Our mission is to provide the highest quality interfaith spiritual care to the people of Hawaii, pastoral training to students around the world and education for the community.
WHY WE EXIST
Pacific Health Ministry exists to serve the spiritual needs of patients, their families and friends, and staff in hospitals and other health care facilities in Hawaii. We utilize the unique, multi-cultural makeup of Hawaii as a means of understanding ministry.
Who We Are
Pacific Health Ministry is a spiritual care service agency for the people and institutions of Hawaii. As Hawaii’s only fully accredited institution by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), we strive to provide care for ill, grieving, isolated and underserved people through chaplaincy services and education for clergy and laity.
About
The concept behind Pacific Health Ministry evolved in the hearts and minds of healthcare and religious leaders. Following a growing interest in bio-medical ethics and end-of-life care in the early 1980s, Pacific Health Ministry was established in 1986 to develop hospital ministry and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) programs in Hawaii. Beginning with services at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, Kuakini Medical Center and The Queen’s Medical Center Punchbowl, the organization has grown in size and scope. It now has programs established at Hawaii State Hospital, Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Maui Memorial Medical Center, Pali Momi Medical Center, Pohai Nani Good Samaritan Society, Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific, The Queen’s Medical Center West Oahu, Straub Clinic & Hospital and Wilcox Medical Center.
