Dual CPE Courses on O‘ahu and Maui

As spring ushers in fresh starts and new beginnings, Pacific Health Ministry hopes you will share in our joy with our new Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) cohort. What makes this spring particularly special is that we’re not conducting just one CPE course, but two concurrent courses — on Oahu and Maui.
As part of our long-term efforts to support and walk alongside the healing on Maui, we have been very blessed to continue offering on-island CPE courses for Maui participants thanks to a grant from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Lutheran Disaster Response. Our Maui initiative eliminates a significant barrier to accessing this specialized spiritual care training for the Maui community, which Executive Director & ACPE Certified Educator, Rev. Anke Flohr, has been guiding.
We also continue our O’ahu CPE course and invite you to get to know Rev. Dr. Thomas Hong, who has been leading these sessions, in the article below. From aspiring literature professor to staff chaplain at Queen’s Medical Center, West O’ahu, to his pursuit as a CPE educator, Thomas’s journey exemplifies the transformative power of clinical pastoral education.
We see in all of our CPE students the same kind of opportunities opening to them as they pursue their CPE training. Their dedication to spiritual care and professional growth inspires us daily as they prepare to serve our communities with compassion and skill.
