For 35 years, PHM has been providing spiritual care to patients, friends, loved ones, healthcare staff, and the whole community. Thirty-five years of serving on O’ahu and eventually expanding to Maui, and Kaua’i. Thirty-five years of training people as spiritual care providers from throughout the Asia-Pacific region and from over 30 countries around the world. As PHM’s chaplains recently attended to people living with the isolation of the pandemic, the devastating hurricane in Guam, and the tragic Maui wildfires, the agency demonstrated that it continues to provide spiritual support and care when it matters most.
PHM is a non-profit spiritual care and education organization. The agency currently serves 11 Hawai’i healthcare institutions on O’ahu, Maui, and Kaua’i, providing primary spiritual care services to people of all faith traditions and spiritual backgrounds. PHM staff provides spiritual care services to more than 50,000 people each year.
In addition to providing direct spiritual care services, PHM is the only accredited clinical pastoral education (CPE) training program in the Pacific region for learning the art of spiritual care. PHM is recognized as a premier education program throughout the U.S. and many countries around the world. PHM has also helped establish, and at times conducted, training programs in Hong Kong, Japan, Anchorage, Alaska, and other locations, as well as consulting with more than two dozen other sites. From those efforts, PHM has over 900 CPE graduates serving in facilities around the world.
It is through your support that we continue to be able to serve our community and students that gift people around the world with their service. Our 35th Anniversary event will be the first opportunity after several years for our PHM O‘hana to be together in person again. We can’t wait to see you all!
